Jay Shearn is an Associate at D&P’s Disputes Practice Group. His main areas of practice include commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution in the construction industry such as arbitration and adjudication, property development disputes, general litigation and personal injury cases, specifically in the medicolegal field.

Jay Shearn has advised and represented a multitude of clients from diverse backgrounds, both domestic and foreign across key industries such as construction, property development, healthcare, automotive manufacturing, food & beverage and hospitality.

Jay Shearn represented multiple well-known listed property developers in various matters, including pursing claims against agents/contractors and most notably, defending against claims for liquidated ascertained damages by purchasers of their property developments in KL, Selangor and Johor.

Aside from contractual disputes, Jay Shearn is also experienced in representing Plaintiffs to pursue medical negligence claims against both public and private healthcare providers, premised on injuries ranging from cerebral palsy caused by negligence during childbirth, complex gastrointestinal injuries, orthopaedic and neurological injuries, to unfortunate fatalities.

  • Represented multiple reputable property developers in defending against liquidated ascertained damages claims from property purchasers in the currently turbulent landscape of property development disputes.
  • Advised and represented various licensees of an international milk tea beverage brand in relation to a multi-million claim against the master licensor of said brand premised on its circumvention of the Franchise Act 1998.
