Athira is an Associate at D&P’s Corporate Practice Group. Her main areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions, entertainment, renewable project advisory, digital asset and other corporate and commercial transactions.

Athira has advised leading multinational corporations, both foreign and domestic, across key sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, entertainment, renewable energy, e-commerce and retail.

Athira has also advised a leading telemedicine service provider headquartered in Singapore on the legal and regulatory requirements relating to their strategic expansion efforts into the Malaysian market.

Additionally, Athira has assisted record labels and music production companies in the preparation of music distribution, publishing, licensing and recording agreements.

Work Highlights

  • Advising a Malaysian public listed renewable energy on its hydro power plant project on its engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract, including the tender process and end-to-end project advisory upon commencement of the project.
  • Advised a Malaysian biotechnology company in its investment round where it has raised an investment of RM25 million from a Malaysian venture capital management corporation.
  • Advised a Singaporean online classified marketplace company on its joint venture exercise with an established local player for the trading second-hand motor vehicles and conduct vehicle inspections in Malaysia.
  • Assisted a music production company in securing the publishing rights for a musical composition featured in an advertisement publicised throughout Malaysia and made available globally on YouTube.
  • Advised a private equity firm in connection with the due diligence exercise and share acquisition in a Malaysian-based agricultural company and acquisition of Malay Reserved Lands by way of an asset transfer.
  • Advised a private equity firm in connection with the due diligence exercise and proposed acquisition in a minority stake in a Malaysian-based healthcare business.
  • Lead a coordination file involving external legal counsels from six jurisdictions to provide consolidated advice on laws applicable to the oil and gas industry.
